Since moving back to Idaho I have found/remembered that there's not much to do around here. I have had to keep myself busy so I don't drive my husband crazy. I LOVE furniture and will one day have my own shop of woodworking tools but until then I am learning to have fun re-finishing it. My projects include four dining chairs, two dressers, and a pair of wingback chairs. I spent five dollars on my OLD OLD dining chairs, one free side of the road dresser, one free work basement dresser, and two wingback chairs made of green velvet (gag) for 26 bucks total!! Gotta love craigslist. My dad and Dan helped me to re-enforce these bad boys because they were going to fall apart. I aaallllllmost threw them away mid project because I was thinking I couldnt save them but I am so glad Dan had more faith in them than I did. Here are the before pictures. Don't mind the ugly dogs.
Don't they look cool beans? I have two in my office at work along with my next project...Basement dresser.
As part of my job I go to hospitals at ALL hours of the day and night to be with victims of sexual assault. Most times as part of the evidence collection the police will take the victims clothes and they areleft with a hospital gown. Part of the reason I am there is to bring them something that they can wear home. I needed a place to store all the clothes I had strewn around my office so I trudged off to the basement. ( i work in such an old building like 1920 old that the basement is like a treasure mine) I found this bad boy.

It was nasty. Smelled like pee and had a moldy gross linolieum type of counter top thing rotting away on top. I LUGGED this thing up the stairs to take home and this is what has transpired. TA -DA. I still need some knobs but I can't find ones I like.
My wingback chairs are in process...I have one stripped down naked and have found the fabric I want to put back on it. i am a little intimidated by this part. I dont want to screw it up. I am exicted to finally get started and see what they look like.
There's lots to do in Idaho if I get creative. :)
